In 1957, I made my first book in an edition of one, illustrating a nursery rhyme for a small sister. Since then, I have done quite a number of books, a few, lettered and drawn by hand in unique volumes. Most of them are illustrated with woodcuts with a text set up and printed with old type faces on a proofing press.

For many years, however, I had wanted to publish some of my books in small, sturdy, hardbound editions accessible to every budget. In 2005, I published L'ALPHAbêtière, the beginning of Elstir Editions. This kind of book design has allowed me a lot of freedom, opening up the possibility of computer manipuated images as well as the old techniques that I already knew.

The list of titles published by Elstir Editions grows each year. Ideas become reality slowly; it is a lot of work - but also a lot of satisfaction.
