Legendary Characters, A "make up your own rules"  Card Game

A child fascinated by stories, I loved old myths and legends. The beasts and people described were real to me - I could see them - their images filed in my memory inspired these woodcuts.

The letters themselves were the origin of this alphabet. Thirty boxes of wooden type in many sizes and typefaces (a brocante treasure) took several months just to sort, and I found about half of the various alphabets incomplete, generally the larger sizes. I started to carve the creatures with no idea of what I could do with them, simply because the old wood is so beautiful and trying to fit a person or fantastic beast into a waiting shape is such fun. At first I tried to make only French creatures, but JKQUWX and Z defeated me. Eventually the selection became international; also I began to see ways to present my alphabet. Hence, this box.

You can fool around with my letters; make words, invent pangrams, spread your name across the dining room wall. Surely I have not exhausted all the possibilities.
